Hi people,
I hope you’re all long forward to the long weekend AND the soccer!!!!!! I remember my best memories of the World cup is sitting half asleep watching the soccer with my excited older brothers, really enjoying the camaraderie more than anything else.
There's a man sitting at a bar just looking at his drink. He stays like that for half an hour. Then, a big trouble-making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, and just drinks it all down. The poor man starts crying. The truck driver says, "Come on man, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand seeing a man crying." "No, it's not that. This day is the worst of my life. First, I fall asleep, and I'm late to my office. My boss, in an outrage, fires me. When I leave the building to my car, I found out it was stolen. The police say they can do nothing. I get a cab to return home and when I leave it, I remember I left my wallet and credit cards there. The cab driver just drives away. I go home and when I get there, I find my wife sleeping with the gardener. I leave home and come to this bar. And when I was thinking about putting an end to my life, you show up and drink my poison."

Sitting here looking at my 16 month old son, play. I feel this sense of almost overwhelming responsibility. Working in the mental health industry, I am constantly reminded of what life lasting damage parents can do to their kids. Is Leon going to be a compassionate person? Is he going to be persistent or a quitter? Is he going to have integrity, somebody who keeps what he promises? All these questions going through my head and the more I think about it the more scared I become…..
A drunken man gets on the bus late one night, staggers up the aisle, and sits next to an elderly woman. She looks the man up and down and says, "I've got news for you. You're going straight to hell!" The man jumps up out of his seat and shouts, "Bus driver! Stop the bus!!! I'm on the wrong bus!"

Just found out that a friend of mine died of breast cancer. A month ago. She was my mentor and the inspiration that helped me to be so involved with the salsa world today. Once the initial shock and grief wore off. I came to a realisation that she died a full month before I found out about it. I’ve been so busy with my life that I have lost touched with a a lot of people who are important to me.
I always talk about how we should not live in the past (whether it’s regret or good memories) or in the future (whether it’s planning or anticipating) but I have never realised that even living in the present can be done ineffectively too! Instead of really trying to immerse myself in the split second when the future becomes the past; the moment we know as the present, I have been sitting on a wave that I have no control over.
I realise that this is happening because I like the feeling of being busy. That I like to have a hell of a lot to do. That it makes me feel good that my text message reply turnaround time is about 24 hours. Is this really living in the present? Thank you Carmen Vella for still teaching me about life, even after your death. A full month after your death. Vaya con Dios, bella.
